Whiskey & Oak Imperial Coffee Brown – Field House Brewing (Smoking Gun Coffee Roasters)

From Field House Brewing in Abbotsford in collaboration with Smoking Gun Coffee Roasters out of Mission comes their “Whiskey & Oak Imperial Coffee Brown” a beer originally brewed for the Hopwired craft beer and coffee festival.  The beer pours a deep brown colour with a brown head.  The aroma consists of coffee, roasted malts, nuts, chocolate and a sweetness in the finish.  The flavour is of coffee, roasted malts, smoke, nuts, chocolate, vanilla, oak, earth and some mild bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 7% with an IBU of 25.  This was a really well executed collaboration and I hope they keep bringing it back in the future.

Commercial Description:  Brewed in collaboration with Smoking Gun, this beer was brewed in partnership with the Hopwired craft beer and coffee collaboration festival.  This bold brown ale was conditioned on 40 creek Canadian Whiskey, toasted oak and locally roasted coffee beans from Guatemala’s Huehuetenago region. Offering notes of chocolate, red fruit, tangerine and a hint of vanilla.
