From Coal Harbour Brewing in Vancouver comes their “7th Year Anniversary Imperial Stout” a beer that looks to emulate french toast. The beer pours an opaque black colour with a light brown head. The aroma consists of oak, bourbon, vanilla, maple, roasted malts and brown sugar. The flavour is of bourbon, oak, vanilla, maple, brown sugar, anise, roasted malts, ash, treacle, mild bitterness and only a hint of alcohol. The alcohol content comes in at 9.2%and the beer has a thickness to it. This may be the beer from Coal harbour that I enjoy the most. I hope they continue to make beer in this vein!
Commercial Description: FRENCH TOAST WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THE RICH AND SKY IMPERIAL STOUT. BREWED WITH ROASTED CHOCOLATE MALT LACTOSE MILK SUGAR, DEMERARA SUGAR AND CINNAMON. BOURBON BARREL AGING A PORTION WHILE THE REST SAT ON HARD MAPLE WOOD AND MADAGASCAR BOURBON VANILLA, WE THEN BLENDED THE TWO BACK TOGETHER TO CREATE THIS DELICATE YET ROBUST DESSERT STOUT THAT WE ARE SO PROUD TO SHARE WITH YOU TO CELEBRATE 7 YEARS OF DELICIOUS BEERS CHEERS.
