Silk Road Chai Brown Ale – SPINNAKERS GASTRO BREWPUB

From Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub in Victoria BC comes the “Silk Road Chai Brown Ale”.  The beer pours a brown colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of chai tea, ginger, cinnamon, anise, spice and sweetness.  The flavour is of chai tea, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, anise, spice, toffee, chocolate and a nuttiness.  The alcohol content comes in at 5.2% with an IBU of 15.  While I am not a huge fan of Chai Tea I did really enjoy the flavour that this beer brought to the table.

Commercial Description:  Chai Brown Ale is a fresh take on the Northern English nut brown ale, brewed with the addition of a custom chai blend from Silk Road Teas. It is said to have spicy and warming notes of ginger root, cinnamon bark, anise seed, cardamom, and allspice.
