From Main Street Brewing in Vancouver comes their “4th Anniversary Quadrupel Belgian Ale”. The beer pours a deep reddish with a tan head. The aroma consists of dark fruits, candied sugar, toffee and a sweet finish. The flavour is of dark fruits, stone fruit, clove, candied sugar, toffee, resin, almost pine and bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 9.5% with an IBU of 40. While I would not say this is 100% traditional that is not a bad thing at all. This was quite enjoyable.
Commercial Description: Continental specialty malts and Belgian dark candi sugar give this strong, rich Belgian ale its garnet colour and sweetness. A blend of Belgian yeasts provide aroma and flavour complexity, with notes of dark fruits, clove and spice. We think it’s a pretty good excuse for a celebration!
