From Pike Brewing Company in Seattle Washington comes their “Pike Old Bawdy Barley Wine style Ale” from the 2006 vintage the first version after it was stopped in 1997. Being that I drank this beer in August 2018 this bottle is between 11 and 12 years old depending on brew dates. The beer pours a murky brown colour with little to no head. The aroma consists of dark fruits, leather, anise, toffee and sweetness. The flavour is of dark fruits, raisins, toffee, anise, caramel, molasses, burnt coffee, roasted malts, candied sugar, sweetness, sherry, bitterness, citrus pith and some resin.
Commercial Description: Pike Old Bawdy Barley Wine was brewed annually from 1991 to 1997 and then re-introduced in 2006. Vintages regularly win medals at national beer tasting competitions.
