Helles – Angry Hen Brewing

From Angry Hen Brewing out of Kaslo in the Kootenays comes their “Helles” lager.  The beer pours a golden colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of grainy notes with citrusy fruit and a sweetness.  The flavour is of grainy, bready malts, citrus, sweetness, mild bitterness and grapefruit rind.  The alcohol content comes in at 5% with an IBU of 32.  When it comes to a helles lager this one is definitely well made.  Shirley may be an Angry Hen but she is definitely a really skilled brewer and this beer proves it.

Commercial Description:  Bright German Lager. “Helles” means “bright” in German. This classic style is the most approachable for customers who are new to ‘craft’ and it’s a refreshing spring and summer offering.
