From Northpaw Brew Co out of Port Coquitlam comes their new “Checkmate Baltic Porter”.  The beer pours a deep brown colour with a brown head. The aroma consist of sweet toffee, roasted malts and chocolate.  The flavour is of roasted malts, ash, coffee, toffee, chocolate, resin, pine and some bitterness.  The alcohol conetent comes in at 8.1% with an IBU of 30.  This comes in more on the bitter and dry side of the Baltic Porter side so if you are expecting that sweeter imperial porter this is not it.  That being said i did enjoy the can and would go back for seconds.  Just let it warm up a bit and open up.
