From Meander River Farm & Brewery out of Ashdale Nova Scotia comes their “Smoky Chipotle Porter”.  The beer pours a deep brown with a light brown head.  The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted malts, smoke and chipotle peppers.  The flavour is of chocolate, dark fruits, raisins, mild berries, smoke, ash, chipotle peppers, roasted malts and some bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 7.2%.  I am not always a fan of smoked or spiced beer but this seems to build a nice balance between the both.  Just enough spice and smoke to pair really well with food but not overpower your taste buds.

Commercial Description:  Brewed with cherry smoked malt and infused with chipotle peppers, this brew has rich dark chocolate notes with a nice hop balance, full smokey flavour and a subtle bite of spice on the finish. Serve with cheese and hors d’oeuvres, red meat, or as a night cap.
